Dear Josephji,
Even the incarnations of the Lord are not exempted from Karma and Karmaphalam.
When Lord Rama shot Bali with His arrow, it was destined that in the next life time, Lord Krishna would face the same destiny.
Here, in our culture, God comes as the Guru who teaches us this precious Knowledge through their life. So, we must take Lord Rama and Lord Krishna as our Gurus and should not get stuck up in the stories.
