Swamiji, devi mahatmyam portrays greatness of devi, sivapuranam that of siva etc; rishis know that there is only one ultimate power brahmam, then why did they formulate that brahmam in different deities, which confuses humans?

When you go for a dinner there may be several items on the table. Each item favors the taste of a few people, you pick and choose what you like. However, the ultimate aim of the dinner is to quench your hunger. Similarly, our rishis knew people are different in their thoughts and emotions by nature of their karmasamskaras. No matter, which deity they relate to, the ultimate aim is to identify the divinity in one’s self. Like the confusion at the dinner table on what to eat, is only for someone who hasn’t tried anything…..the confusion on which Deity to worship only exists if you don’t start with any. Once, you do, you will realize any food will remove your hunger. Likewise devotion to any deity of your choice will lead you in the path of understanding. Hari Om.
