Puranas are written with the idea of presenting a thatwam using some stories. In that sense Bhagavatham summarizes stories from various resources, to present several characters and their journey to the Divine. It is true the stories in Mahabharata and Bhagavatham about the end of Pandavas are different in details. If we understand Puranas are not truly historical and allow the narrator’s liberty, the story could be said differently, since the purpose is only to present the principle or Thatwam . Hari Om.
