Swamiji, I am bit sensitive and straight forward person. Whenever I come across some one speaking negative about me I feel shocked or depressed. My attitude towards others has always been sincere. Being straight forward I never talk about them behind, but talk on their face. When I talk straight forwardly they get hurt. Finally I decided to keep distance from such people. I have realized though how sincere we are in our relationship with our dear and near ones or professionally, nothing is real. I do my nama japam twice daily. I have determined to be straight forward and sincere as I was. Where ever politness is required, I follow the same, but people take it for granted. I am never willing to meet such people again with a smiling face. Kindly advice

Just take a step back and see if you can rephrase what you wrote above. You say things which hurt others and you think you being “straightforward” can do that. But you are upset when you hear someone said something behind your back. How did you come to know of the things they said behind you? Because some gossipers brought it to you, right? If you are straight forward, why do you not discourage such people and say you don’t want to hear it? Instead of alienating from people, see what you can correct about yourself so you are liked by others. It may sound difficult, but try. You don’t have to correct or advise people or “say things to their face”. 99% of people in this world are lovely people. You just have to open your eyes and see the goodness in others. As you start loving people, it will come back to you the same way. Smile…..and pretend to be happy even when you are feeling a little down. Slowly, you will become more and more relaxed. Hari Om.
