Swamiji, I want to share a very unfortunate condition.MT Vasudevan Sir is one of my favourite writers. But in one of his work, called “Randamoozham”, he had written Mahabharata story in a different context. Its really a hard situation that now our younger generation trust randamoozham more than original Mahabharat. One of my collegues yesterday talk really bad about Krishna..she call him weak and wicked person.. I told her its not like that and try to understand that Mahakavya. but she told that randamoozham may be the real story where kunthi was a bad woman and she told some more similar quotes from that work..she had given that book to some of her friends and told happily that now that friends hate Krishna..When I understood that she wont hear me anymore I stopped talking about this subject.. I had also read that novel. It is an entertainer for sure but its dangerous if people think its true. They will began to support duryodhana…she asked me why Krishna never defeated Jarasandha and ran like a weak person.. Hari Om!

MT Vasudevan Nair is one of the most versatile writers of our times. MT himself said “if you did not read Mahabharatam, at least one time in our life, the life is a waste”. No doubt Randamoozham is a great literary work. But MT himself said he bows before Vyaasa. Your friend who is raving about Randamoozham has not read Mahabharatam for sure. Tell her to read that and then compare the two.
(You can read what M.T says too, that is he has verbalized the silence of Sage Vyasa in some places, obviously using his imagination. Hinduism offers such freedom of expression which many writers have enjoyed).
Avatars like Rama and Krishna lived in human form to show us how to live life. “Marthya avatharasya marthya shikshanam”. There is a saying in English “pick your battles”. It takes ultimate wisdom in life to know, when it is better not to fight. Krishna had decided to move his kingdom to Dwaraka, so he retreated. It is also worth knowing Jarasandha came to help Sisupala when Krishna came to abduct Rugmini. But he defeated them all and took her away. Same enemy, two approaches at two different occasions. There is a great lesson here to learn from the Jagat guru. Hari Om.
