Dear Suchitra,
All our rituals are meant to uplift our mind to the Lord (Chaithanyam) and the impurity of the body never affects the mind that dwells in God. In Bhagavath Geetha, Bhagavan says that the mind which beholds HIM carry no sin. Read Geetha regularly and do meditation and never suspect the divinity of your mind.
