Bhagavad Gita clearly says I am available to my devotee in the form he/she wants. So, if you personify God and see him as a friend, a Guru, a Mother etc. that form of the Divine will be available to you. However, if you understand all these forms as a representation of the Universal Conscious energy, that is how HE will express for you. Early in your spiritual journey it is good to identify a form and relate to it. Eventually, you will see the very presence within yourself as Godliness or Divinity. Hari Om.
