In Hinduism every purana has 3 parts ,history, philosophy and sadhana. Our ancestors do not focus much on history as its only information. For transformation we need to observe philosophy and do sadhana. It is better to understand the principle of Ayyappa rather than enquiring who is Ayyappa or Siva .Siva ,Vishnu , all are Atma ; different names are given to same Atma .Stories get transferred from people to people, generation to generation and there is no proof whether these stories are true. Ayyappa can be considered as Bhoothanatha and do sadhana. Please do not loose your time for getting information. Focus more on transformation. That will be helpful in life.
