Sadism is the ability to derive pleasure by inflicting physical/mental pain or by humiliating  others. It is low animalistic behavior and an expression of utmost crudeness in personality. If you get any pleasure when you see a fellow being cry with pain or insult, you are not eligible to be called human. Because, the fundamental quality that defines higher animals or humans is their ability to feel for others through something called collective consciousness and be compassionate. If some is truly sadistic, they need psychological counseling and often treatment, to make them aware of this behavior because often people inflict insult and pain without consciously knowing what they are doing. And the best way to protect yourself is to stay away from them. Hari Om.
