Any material could be used for puja if the “Bhavam” you dedicate it with, is appropriate. If you have a guest coming to your house and you don’t know what they like, you offer them things that you think are the best. Similarly people give all the things they love to their Ishtadevatha out of devotion. Hence anything can be used for puja, as long as you are surrendering it with a pure heart and it will be accepted in the Bhavam that you give. Hari Om.
