Swamiji pranamam thanks for your guidance, I have a doubt in my mind as to what is really the difference between being fake and being tactful. When somebody doesn’t like someone and gossips behind him but in front talks very nicely, that is not good right but that is what we see all around us. If we don’t like someone because of how they behaved in the past with us but we don’t show it in front of them, is that being tactful. If someone says something about us that is not true, how do we not let it affect us and not feel victimized. I am afraid our culture is changing day by day, I live in Mumbai and here I see very young kids hardly 14 or 15 roaming around as girlfriend or boyfriend, the numbers that I see is much greater than in our times. I have a 2.5 yr old son, so how do I raise him with good values so that it gets so imbibed in him that he will never fall into bad groups or even if he makes mistakes he will know his boundaries that he will not cross it .

Preethi, the world is moving forward, and understanding the changes that happen around us, is important. Today’s youngsters have learned to make friends beyond their sexual identity. Girls and boys can be very good friends and there is nothing wrong about it. There is no need to always look at it in a wrong way. But like you said, the boundaries are important. That is achieved by you being a good friend of your child, so he/she won’t hide anything from you or will feel free to talk to you openly about their life. Parents have to grow up one more time with their children, in the world they are experiencing.
Now to answer your question about fake/tact. Everything you do with understanding is tact. Someone did something wrong to you. But if you have the necessary wisdom to ignore it as an immaturity on their side, you will be able to deal with them as though nothing happened. That happens when you have great self esteem. Your positivity will be able to correct their wrong -doings eventually. Hari Om.
