Swamiji what happens to a person who committed suicide. Will they get a new birth like normal or he will get punished? What happens to their soul?

Every life is a chance through different kind of experiences to purify our soul. Human life is particularly valuable because it provides wisdom and discrimination to achieve this purpose fast. We say committing suicide is a sin, because instead of using the hidden abilities in our being to tackle our problems and become glorious, we succumb to weakness and end our lives. That does not mean the soul will be punished. It will still continue its journey acquiring a body that suits it to move forward again. Our thoughts at the time of death are particularly important in determining what kind of life we acquire. That is why it is said to chant mantras, listen to bhagavtham etc. so such weaknesses don’t affect us. Hari Om.
