Consider consciousness as the deep sea without any waves. The wave is hidden in the ocean but it is only when wind creates a quickening that it expresses. Similarly, thoughts are inherent in your consciousness. But in the pure form, consciousness is inert. It is when Prana or life force creates a quickening that thoughts are expressed like waves on the ocean. The thoughts return to the consciousness, just as the waves return to the ocean eventually.
