Swamiji, You have guided me through all my worries and confusions in life. first of all thanking you for all that with all my heart. But still my expectations from others are not getting controlled. when I see my husband coming late from office and after that watching his favourite channels and news, I get frustrated. I wonder y he gives first preference to world news whereas he doesn’t know what is happening in our house. For my bad luck the culture he has brought up is like that. In my house the TV culture was less and my parents gave more importance for communication. I have conveyed this problem many times to him but he is not considering it seriously. My 6 yr old son is also not very much attached to him as he is not getting much care from his father. Though my husband loves him a lot, my son’s maturity is not able to understand it. When I tell him he is justifying himself that after a long tiresome day watching TV gives him a relaxation. Swamiji..how can two different minds will compromise to a situation like this..

Like you said it is just a clash of expectations. Your husband feels he is justified in relaxing after work, while you feel he should involve with you and the child when at home. You didn’t mention if you work. If you don’t, just remove that expectation of wanting your husband to do things for the household, and do it yourself. Now, if you are working also and find it difficult to do it all by yourself, ask your husband what he would like to contribute to, at home, when he comes back from work? You have to make conscious efforts to involve your son and his Dad in activities together. Explain to your husband that the child is lacking his attention, and it will reflect when he grows up. Parenting is not about producing a child, it is about raising a noble individual. Provide good role models among your family or friends for your husband to see. Let him learn from them. Hari Om.
