Swamiji, you said in your talks that we cannot escape the results of our past karma and that no rituals or third party intervention or even God himself can save us from this. Then what is this factor called grace that everyone talks about? If we surrender totally or pray intensely, would that reduce the karmic impact in our lives? History books say that emperor Shajahan/Jehangir prayed intensely and took over his son”s illness and died himself thus curing his son. Also some Guru”s are said to take over their disciples bad karma (Ramakrishna & Ramana Maharishi got cancer like that?)? How can these kind of events be true?

Dear Murali Mohan,
When the events happen as we expect we call it God”s grace. When it won”t happen as we wish, we call it destiny. The result is designed by your expectation. God is always graceful. It is upto us to change the attitude.
The more you surrender to God, the more you will be able to accept the situation with a strong mind. If you want a strong mind, then you should be a sincere devotee of the Lord. A sincere devotee never complains; for him, everything is God”s prasad.
If you are practising Hata Yoga, you can reach such a stage where you can take some body”s illness, but that will enter your body. Then you have to undergo all the sufferings. That means no body can completely destroy the evils but only transfer them. The real masters never give much importance to physical problems. Rather they give more mental strength so that the person can boldly face any problems. And he can remember God at the time of leaving the body.
