Swamiji, I have been having this doubt for a long time. Mahatma Gandhi practised non violence and he believed that even when people behave bad to you, one should always do good, but Lord Krishna does not teach us that. Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to aim arrow at Karnan even though Karnan was not in a position to fight. Gandhiji is teaching us not to fight, even when you get hurt and what is the message of Lord Krishna in showing us to fight dharmam even if we have to do adharma? Thank you -Geetha

Dear Geethaji,
I really appreciate your question. When you meditate on this kind of questions, your intellect will be elevated to higher dimensions.
Please understand, Bhagavat Geeta is not addressing a specific problem or a situation. Rather, it uplifts your mind from all weaknesses and strengthens it to face any kind of problems in life. It brings out the valour in you.
Geeta portrays the worst kind of battle between brothers, cousins, Guru and Shishya and what not? You can never imagine a worser conflict in life as faced by Arjuna.
Gandhiji had his ‘non violent’ way of fighting with the invaders, which was much simpler than the Mahabharath war! When there is a better option, why shed blood?
But there too, he derived the mental strength from ‘Geeta Matha’.
As Swami Chinamayanadaji says, ‘The Geeta is a readymade textbook which serves us where we are; whoever we may be, whatever may be our problem, irrespective of place and time, caste and creed, the Geeta serves us. This is the special charm of the scriptural textbook-the Bhagawad Geeta’.
