Swamiji, I would like to know whether there is a particular time for chanting the gayatri mantra and mrityunjaya mantra? I hear that the mrityujaya mantra should be chanted silently so no one should hear us chant it. Is this true and if so why, could you explain.

Yes, whenever your mind is fresh, (that means, in no hurry) that is the most suitable time for chanting.
It is not in mere chanting, but in feeling the inner love with the God within. All mantras are expressions of the feelings in your mind. Just be single-focussed in your love with the Lord. So, never allow mind to indulge in anything other than the beloved Lord. Be a true devotee.
