Swamiji,Namaskaram.You said that our life itself is both heaven and hell.We pay for our misdeeds in the present life itself.I am unable to understand why then,children are born with birth defects and suffer all life due to this.Some are abandoned by their families soon after their birth.pl cear my doubt.

I have (many times) explained that the obvious proof for PUNARJANMA or rebirths is the suffering of infants or children.
What could be the cause behind these effects?
It is none other than the Karma in the previous life times.
The body that ate junk food in the young age has changed; but the effects appear many years later.
The time gap between Karma and Karma Phalam vary. What could be the reason?
The mind that did the Karma through a body reaps the Karmaphalam through another body, may be in the next life time!
