swamiji,pranams.the talk about husband-wife relationship is very informative and true.in 60”s&70”s the age diff was 5to 10 years,but as the so called progress in education took place ,the diff is coming down and sometimes the wife is elder to husband in certain cases.though they say it is practical,it is not in good taste to address husband by name.in good old days wife will not tell husband”s name,but will ask her children to tell their father;s name.may be this because of the lack of proper upbringing at home.this is my humble opinion.

Dear vaidyanathanji,
The custom regarding age difference between husband and wife has kept mainly because of two resons; first one is, the wife should keep more respect for her husband. The foundation of deep love is made out of respect. More over the character of woman’s mind decides the nature of children they get. The story of Dridarashtra,pandu,and Vidura teaches this fact. So mutual respect is the foundation for the love between husband and wife.
