We are a family of two sons, mother in law myself & my wife in a rented house at Ernakulam.. Myself and my two sons are going to Sabarimala on Dec 22nd 2017 for which have worn mala on 16th nov 2017. The doubt is that at the time of wifes periods should we shift some other house or is it wrong to stay with her in the same house. We both are working, we travel together now in this case what is the option as it is diffciult to travel by bus to her office. Kindly advice.

Rituals and customs are not the absolute TRUTH. The reason one wears Mala and does a 41 day penance is to enable a satwic life over that period so he is physically, mentally and spiritually renewed. All the customs followed in the past including staying away from women during their periods etc. was okay when we had larger families. But in the setting of a nuclear family this may not be possible. Give more attention to the transformation in your mind, controlling your negativities and spiritual development during this time. Other things are not that important. You can follow the customs to the extend that is possible for you. Hari Om.
