Hari Ohm. Generally we place the altar either in the East or West directions. However you have to look into the availability of space in your house.There are people who believe kannimoola also good.The most important point is how you sanctity the area by your practice of japam and meditation. That energy should circulate around your house. That is why in olden days people used to keep the altar in the middle of the house. If you imagine the house as a circle and the altar as the center so that the energy circulate all over and protect the house and bring all the prosperity,peacefulness and health .
