Dear Preethaji,
Understand, it is not the oil that matters, oil represents your flow of thoughts. If you continuously think about God (whenever you feel to do so) then you mind will carry the divine light called God (conscious energy).
So the light is God, the oil is your flow of thoughts, the wick is your mind and the lamp is your body.
Regarding oil, use some good quality one, so that you will not spoil your atmosphere.
