Wouldn’t letting the mind wander sometime lead to innovation like if some guy is bored and he looks up and sees something and is like” huh couldn’t we do it that this way?” He gets this thought by letting his mind wander. So Isn’t it good to let the mind wander sometime other than training your mind to have no thoughts at all through meditation?

Creativity always happens from thoughts. There is nothing wrong in being positively creative. And no need to suppress thoughts either. It’s a transformation in thoughts that is needed first. Hari Om.
