Revered Swamiji, Namaskaram. I am writing this to have a reply for an issue for which I have not been able to find a plausible answer so far. In our religion we have numerous Gods and Goddesses. Most of them irrespective of God or Goddess have human form. But what is not understood is why they have got four or more hands. Our ancient Rishis must have a reasonable cause to praise these deities in their form as I have mentioned above. Swamiji may kindly enlighten me with reference to our scriptures. Thank you, Hari Om!

Hand is ‘Karmendriya’ which represents the function of doing some thing.
God’s various acts through these various instruments carried in four or eight hands have specific purpose of protection of the good and destruction of the evil and nurturing of knowledge etc.
