Hari Om Swamiji, On Saturday, u said the Mahamantra is “Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.” But Iskcon says the maha mantra is “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.” Which is the correct one? Moreover, Iskcon says we have to always chant on the beads to count the number of rounds we can do. It is necessary that we should always chant on the beads? After listening to your discourse, i have started chanting everytime, while working etc. Is it ok or should i chant on the beads only? I try the maximum to concentrate on the Lord all the time by chanting continuously. Awaiting your reply, with due respects.

Dear Lalitha,
Hare Rama, Hare Krishna is a vedic mantra; but Iskon temple took Krishna as an individual God. In Upanishads, Rama represents our mind (Remathi – making happy is the job of the mind) and Krishna is the Chaithnaym – the One who attracts through the brilliance.
So, when mind and the Chaithanyam unites, then life is full of happiness and peace.
Counting beads is helpful in getting concentration while chanting.
