Namaskar Swamiji, I have just gone through the book ‘Padanjali Yoga Sutra’ by Swami Vivekananda. I understood that One can attain the Ultimate Goal when he is able to shed all the samskaras which are the creation of trigunas (Satva, Rajo & Thamo gunas) There are three types of samskaras – 1. Past samskaras (which we have already crossed), 2. Present samskaras (which we are undergoing in this life) and 3. Unmanifested samskaras (which are waiting to bounce on us in our forth coming period). Past samskaras were already over Influence of Present samskaras can be avoided by meditation Unmanifested forms of samskaras cannot be nullified by mere meditation. For that, we will have to completely eradicate illusions (maya) in us. For this, intelligent approach with untiring will power is needed. ( It is also said that only with God’s will, it is possible.) This can be done through ‘SAMYAMA’ (Samyama denotes ‘Samadhi’ state where one will be in a conjoined state with the object on which he started concentration and dhyana). There are various ways to reach the Samyama state. While narrating various methods to achieve Samadhi (ultimatum) one line is written that “this can be achieved through surrender to God”. I feel surrendering to the Almighty is the most effective and only possible method in the present scenario. I wonder why no further narration in this regard is given. Kindly tell me about SURRENDER.
