Swami ji pranam. why people are refrained from doing their daily pooja if someone dies in near relationship. Does it apply to the relatives who are staying in some other city. My husband’s paternal uncle died and people say that close relatives should not touch murties like ladoo gopal shaligram and neither should lit the lamp in temple. Does it apply for daily meditation also. even if we are not in same city

In olden days when infectious deaths were common people were asked to refrain from going to the temple or social gatherings from that house to avoid contamination. You may chose to stay indoors for a few days during the process of mourning as a respect to the deceased. However, there is no scientific or religious reason in the present times to refrain from activities of any kind especially if they are mentally uplifting. Hari Om
