This is the basic difference between Semitic religions and Sanathadharma. Semitic religions talk of a God outside you in whom you believe and to whom you pray. But Hinduism teaches you of an all pervading pure consciousness in which you exist. It teaches you to seek and attain this supreme awareness through meditation. Hari Om.
