Pranam Swamiji In order to establish unity and togetherness among people to fight against British, Bal Gangadhar Tilak started Ganesh Festival in Maharashtra. Now the festival started celebrating throughout India with great enthusiasm and spirit. My question is why this upasana god immersed in water after a great worship and don’t allow to live with us?

Ganesha is the personification of Om, the primordial sound. In olden days idols were made with clay and water thus giving form to the formless. The idol was adorned with turmeric and natural herbs during the puja and immersed in water at the end symbolizing our eternal cosmic law “that which takes form has to return to the formless”. On the scientific side It was also a great way of nitrogen fixation and environmental purification. These days people use other harmful materials to make the idols which should be avoided. Hari Om.
