Hari Om, Guruji, Kindly explain is it necessary to have a spiritual guru in our life. Because in Hindu custom most of us are directly praying to God without a mediator. But as per ISKCON culture they specify that we need to have a spiritual master from whom we need to take siksha or diksha. Please clarify.

Hinduism does not teach you to pray to God, but to attain the divinity in you through Sadhana. As you progress in your spiritual journey it is helpful to have a guru to guide you. A guru is like a map. When you go to an unknown place, it helps to have a map. You may reach your destination without it, but the journey will be harder. Hari Om.
