Pranamam Swamiji Swamiji today when looking for the deep meaning of Satwik, Rajasik and Tamasik…I found that Tamasik is inactivity, Rajasik is activity and Satwik is ‘unactivity’. But i coudnt find the meaning of unactivity in the dictionary and its only found in Bhagavat Geeta. Swamiji ‘unactivity’ means “We physically are acting….but in the attitude or knowledge that actually ‘He’ the Supreme reality alone is acting…and not us( We just observe everything)..so we remain inactive” Swamiji is this explanation of ‘unactivity’ correct? Certain translations are devised for lack of a better word in English to convey the profound usages in Sanskrit. Though Satwic actions are based in purity and wisdom, nonetheless, they could be binding unless the purpose is to serve God. If you do a good deed, but attach it to satisfying your ego with happiness or sense of having ‘done something good’ then it can keep you in the karmic wheel. It is like a gold wire which can tie you to a post just like a copper or iron wire does. Only an action that flows from the soul and has transcended all the three gunas is liberating. There is no doership as you correctly pointed out. However, that state is beyond all gunas. Hari Om.
