first of all let me say proudly that, I am also from Chalakudy (Swamij’s Holy Land) but let to Palakkad 30 years back. Now I am attending Bhagavatha sapthaham at kalyan regularly. I am from an orthodox brahmin family. we are performing Tharpanam (warwe with Thil) On amavasai ( Vavu) day pretending that we are satisfying our ancistors soul which should not wander in this world. As explained by you, there is no soul wander but once the soul (Atma) leaves it will enter into another body according to their Karma. Please clarify.

Every soul needs to go through a process of purification until it attains the divine soul or Paramatma. This journey is undertaken through several lives and several bodies. The tendency to acquire a body after each death is determined by the karmic burden. Some acquire a new body soon, others after several years. But one day of the ethereal world is equal to one year in the human world. That is why we do annual tharpanam. It is our prayer that the ancestors can acquire a body suitable to completing their karmic cycle. “Soul wander” and such are wrong impressions created by wrong usages. The soul is in a certain pleasant (swargam)or unpleasant energy (Narakam) state depending on their past lives, until they acquire a new body and the past impressions are wiped off. The new life is a new chance to continue the journey to Paramatma. Hence, it is important to use every moment of this precious life, carefully and in purpose. Please read the article on Karkidakavavu on the website. Hari Om.
