Dear swamiji, pranamams, I am a regular listener of the Bhagavatamrutham in Asianet Now Indra killed Viswarupa as the latter had a soft corner for thr asura guru Shukracharya. As he killed a brahmana, it became a brahmahaththi papam. Indra, therefore, divided the sin into 4 equal parts n the result- mother earth, water, trees n women r sharing his sin, so the bhagavatha says.Now, whatever we r facing in this birth is the aftereffects of our own karmas of our previous births.If that is the case why mother earth, water, trees n women have to face the aftereffects of Indra’s karma? Secondly mother earth is the consort of Lord MahaVishnu.Hence, is it not the duty of the Lord to save her from this predicament? Thirdly Indra, the king of heavens, is also a womaniser n has tremendous ego.Knowingabout Ahalya,as a great pativruta sthri, still he tried to defame her. But, as far as I know, Ahalya faced the aftereffects of his bad intention n not Indra.Why Indra always escapes from his sin?

Dear Chitra,
Brahmahathya papam is not a sin; it is an effect of the nature’s law.
To conceive a child, the ovum should be produced in the body and to balance that, a woman should undergo periods.
So, through this process the impurities are taken out of the body.
The pure blood can produce more powerful ova so that the creation of a child takes place in the most ideal situations.
To explain this truth, a story is enveloped around it.
Indra represents our ego; when an individual becomes selfishly oriented for his enjoyment, he hurts others.
All relationships should come with a sharing and caring attitude. Only through spiritual understanding we can share happiness.
