Pranam Swamiji Recently I heard one beautiful story, Once a Guru opened the cage of a rabbit and let all the rabbits out and told his Sishya to catch all the rabbits. Sishya tried his best but couldn’t succeed. But in front of Guru all rabbits went to cage and sat quietly. Then Sishya asked Guru how he achieved this and Guru told he left the dog out. In order to keep the mind silent we require a fear of something. So in order to keep my mind silent during meditation I decided to think that I am sitting in a cemetery surrounded by dancing skeletons and if my mind goes here and there the skeletons will teach me what is what? Initially it worked but slowly because I am a Malayalee get associated with Skeletons and formed a union and turned against me. Swmiji what is next?

Now you know your mind does not work in the “dynamics of fear”. The mind only permanently attaches to something through a positive reinforcement. To keep the mind silent, you have to start experiencing the value of silence itself. If you attach to another thought you are in a vicious cycle. Just watch your breath when you meditate in the beginning. Slowly you will get a grip on detaching your thoughts. Hari Om.
