Dear Swamiji, Pranamams. I’m a regular listener of the bhagavatam in asianet. Now Indra killed Viswarupa as the latter had a soft corner for the asuraguru Shukrachary. As he killed a Brahmana it became a Brahmahaththi papam. Indra, therefore, divided the sin into 4 equal parts n the result–mother Earth, water, trees n women are sharing his sin, so the bhagavata says. Now, whatever we are facing in this birth is the afterffects of our own Karmas of our previous births. If that is the case, why Mother Earth, water, trees n women have to face the aftereffects of Indra’s Karma n why did Indra take the law into his hands. More so,Indra the king of heavens, is also a ‘Womanizer and has tremendous ego knowing that Ahalya as a great pativruta stri still he tried to lure her.But as far as I know, Ahalya had to face the aftereffects of his bad intension n not Indra. Why Indra always escapes from his sins?? please explain…

Dear Chitra,
Indra represents our mind. All minds are confused and atrracted to the worldly pleasures.
When it gets and opportunity to get indulge, it makes use of that opportunity and later on regrets over the past mistakes.
It is natural that for some body’s lust, some innocent people may sufer.
But it doesn’t mean that they will always enjoy their sin of the past.
