what is dhyanam
Posted by K SIVADAS & KV SUMADEVI on January 4, 2016
Dhyanam or meditation has been misunderstood as sitting in one place, with eyes closed in a thoughtless state. This is indeed wrong, because that is just like a good sleep. Dhyanam pertains to awakening the intellect ( Dhee/ Buddhi) to transcend the obsession with ones body or mind. In being meditative, you realize this life is like a drama where you have to play your role perfectly. The entire drama of the world around is well-orchestrated by a divine tune. Once this understanding strikes you, then you live life with complete involvement, but without attachment. All the techniques of Dhyanam you practice is to use your ” bhavana” to detach from your “vasanas” so you can identify with Bhagavan who is in you as the core of your being. Hari Om.
