It is believed that we are born here to close our account of past misdeeds and finally reach God. My question is, why should we be severed from God in the first place, at the time of creation. In such a situation, the question of being born on earth would not arise.

Do not think of God as a person that you are severed from. HE is the infinite conscious energy vast and nonchalant like an ocean. You and me, and this entire world of forms, originate from that eternal energy source because of a “quickening” created by connection with Prana or cosmic vibration. It is like a wave created on the surface of the ocean by the wind that causes a quickening. The wave ultimately has to return to the ocean. You are right in saying a world of forms will not be created unless consciousness is connected with Prana. Hari Om.
