Revered Swamiji, Namaskaram. During the discourse, Swamiji had explained about the perishing and non-perishing aspects of a human being. Jeevatman consisting of Antakkaranam and Panchapranas is non-perishing and that leaves the body at the time of death. What I like to know from Swamiji is the nature of these aspects of Jeevatman. When one hears Prana we tend to think about the atmospheric air that we inhale and exhale. We take air from atmosphere to breathe. Then what would be the nature of Prana and mind etc., that leave the body. “Vayurgandhanivasayat” is the simile used in 15th chapter. It is said that Easwaran takes all these faculties with him and leaves the body. Can this be explained more clearly by Swamiji and if so I request Swamiji to explain this phenomenon of death in a lucid way. Thank you, Hari Om!

Prana is not atmospheric air, however oxygen in the air can stimulate and energize the prana that flows in your body through the 72000 nadis. The English equivalent of Prana will be vital energy or life energy. Prana binds to consciousness and consciousness is expressed in all all living beings as thoughts. At the time of death, Prana carries the mind and the thoughts to a new body as determined by its memory or karma. Hari Om.
