Dear Swamiji, During meditation ,emotional mind(vasanas&intellect) is dissolving into intelligence mind while during deep sleep what happens to emotional mind? what is the difference between meditation and deep sleep(without dreams)? A weakened Arjuna won the kurukshetra war after assimilating the Geetha from guru Krishna. Arjuna might not have meditated before starting the war, Moreover,Krishna tells us to do our karmam (niyathi) with (1) balanced state of mind (samabudhi) and (2) connection with paramathma( yoga yujywatsu). During the day we practice step(1) ie; managing the emotional mind and night we practice step(2) dropping the emotional mind to intelligence mind (meditation? or deep sleep?) Guruji I am getting doubts like this , please guide me

Your fundamental question is how sleep differs from meditation. It is true that we are not entertaining thoughts in sleep or during meditation. However, in sleep you drop thoughts because of a shift in life force from mukhya Prana to other vital body functions predominantly. So thoughts are blocked unconsciously or unawares. However in meditation, you are consciously detaching your self from your world of thoughts. Or you are able to see your thoughts separate from you. If you practice meditation, this will become your experience and will be very clear to you. Hari Om.
