Swamiji, It has become a common practice to perform rituals and offerings as a way of expiation either for the negligence of family deity or for the vile acts done by the ancestors. what is the fact by saying that the curses arising from such actions follows generations. If such curse exists isnt it unfair that the unborn generations are destined to suffer the wrath of the deity or the penalty for vile act

None of these “practices” are encouraged in any of our scriptures and these have happened over time out of people’s fear. Any thought or word is energy and does have its effects. But whether it affects you is determined by how vulnerable you are. To remain not affected, you have to create a protective aura around you by constant japam. By the way, no deity ever curses anyone. Family deities are worshipped as protective forces. Negative thoughts and acts are human, not divine. It is out of our ignorance that we attribute our negativism to God too. Hari Om.
