dear swamiji, For hindu marriages we always look jathakaporuttam. Is it the right way to find a partner? We are not like westerners who have dating etc before they choose their partners with understanding. I was married of at a tender age of 21 without knowing anything of life . My parents selected the groom by jathakaporitham that is majority of astrologers said yes. But after 15 yrs of marriage i come to understand that we are completly differant and still cannot understand each other. According to Varahamihira (the sage who discovered the influence of planets and stars) the tuning of minds (Manaporutham) is most important and if it is there, other astrological match comparisons are not required.
We need to remember here that, in spite of such Manaporutham, so many love marriages are failures because the individuals try to impress each other to gain love! This “fake personality” display hides their true nature which they can not hold on for a very long time!
Ultimately, the marriage or relation gets ruined.
