Namskaram Swamiji. Happy New Year to you and to the readers. Swamiji, want to why do we light “Pinvilakku” (kedavilakku) in Lord Shiva temple. Please answer.

Deepam is one of the five things that are part of the traditional offerings to Bhagavan in the Tantrik realm. Wherever a lamp is lit properly, there is a purification of the air around it. It is also a means to make us aware of the presence of an inner fire in us. By keeping the Kedavilakku, we are reminding ourselves that the inner fire of awareness should be always kept alive and glowing. It should also spread light to the world around us. Hari Om.
