First of all, you must have clarity on what you want in life.
Finding solace in a spiritual path as you don’t have a permanent job is defending a weakness.
Your parents have a big concern about your life. You must understand it.
When you reach their stage only, you will understand it well.
And, instead of blindly accepting what they tell you, think of the merits and demerits and decide intelligently.
Spirituality is not an alternative, it is complementary in all that you do.
It is the undercurrent of your life to make your life a celebration.
