Swamiji, How to change adamant character in children?
Posted by Anu on January 9, 2017
Depends on how old the child is. Children start exhibiting stubborn behavior from age two and throw tantrums often to get their things done. From age two to four, it is best to ignore them. When they realize crying and tantrums won’t work, they will stop. From age five onwards they should be taught by positive and negative reinforcements. But telling them what is right and wrong, appreciating when they behave well, and small punishments when they do wrong. Punishments should never be by hurting them with words or physically. Instead, you can stop them from playing with their friends or have them do some extra homework. Never yield to stubbornness. In fact, parents should also be careful not to escalate a situation, instead divert their attention before they start fussing. Always communicate well with children of all ages. If the mother talks well and pays due attention, the chances that they cry or misbehave as part of attention seeking can be reduced. Most important thing is not to lose your cool or become angry when your kid is adamant. An adamant kid and an angry parent is a bad combination.Hari Om.
