I understand your difficulty. Marriage is a lifetime commitment. The real question is “are you ready to face all consequences of your decisions?”. Like your Amma says, society may not be supportive of an intercaste/inter- religious marriage. Are you willing to stand together and not feel upset or depressed when you have to go through those challenges. Will both of you support and help each other and be able to create a good family. The main responsibility is on you. If your answer to the above is “yes”, then you can proceed with your love affair. However, if there is any doubt in your mind, now is the time to back off, with mutual understanding. Your mother and other family members are only in supporting roles here. The decision has to be made by you and your friend. If both of you are ready and determined then eventually everyone will support you. Hari Om.
