There is no problem in chanting in any bodily condition. However, the benefit of sitting in a temple or close to a lighted lamp is to utilize the ethereal environment near it. However, the body at certain conditions like menstruation is not responsive to ethereal surroundings. So there is no benefit to sitting near a lamp at that time. Hari Om
