Separation of the parents affect the children’s mental health more deeply than we imagine. You have to now be the father and mother for your child. Spend as much time as possible with him and be involved in things he does. Make him feel bold about life and never discuss issues with your husband in front of him. It is his helplessness and resentment, that flows out as anger. He should see Mom as an icon of strength, untouched by the problems that happened in life. If he sees you weak, upset, crying or confused, he will think there is nothing for him to depend upon. Make him feel more loved, support him, do the things a father would do for him. If he has a good relation with your Dad or brother or other older male relatives allow him to spend time with them. Let him go to movies and games. Enroll him in classes he enjoys. Keep him busy, he will get better when he is a bit older and can see the world through this own view. Be bold, things will get better. Let him join me during the children’s camp at the Bhagavatham Village in April. My blessings are with you. Hari Om.
