Apara Bhakti is when you visualize Bhagavan in an image or Vigraham and use that medium to relate to the Divine. It is in other words Saguna Bhakti. In Apara Bhakti you understand the transcendental nature of the Divine and see him as a Supreme awareness, and yourself as a part of it.
