SWAMIJI, IN OUR DEATH RITUALS WHY THE ASTHI OR THE BONES ARE TAKEN FROM THE CREMATORIUM
Posted by AKSHAY on March 24, 2017
Sanchayanam means to gather. It is a ritual to emphasize the transient nature of our body and the eternal nature of the soul. We collect the ashes and put plants in the cremated soil, so people realize the body is now recycled into something else. The ashes are then submitted to water with a prayer for the soul to continue its journey to obtain a new body. We pray that the person gets a body suitable for him to improve his karmavasanas and thus progress on his/ her journey to the Divine. Hari Om
