Prananam Swamiji, Thank you for answering all my queries. I was listening to bhagavatham part about death and ghost. My Mom passed away 3 years back she was suffering from liver cancer and she had a very painful death, I want to ask you, my mom was very spiritual and she was so good to everyone but still she had a very bad painful death. I prayed to God please don’t make her suffer better to take her. She was so kind to everyone but why she had to suffer this much. Unknowingly also tears come to my eyes when I recall the way she suffered . But she used to think a lot about future because we were facing financial problems. My second question is you said that whoever dies by accident they will become a ghost because they were not prepared to leave the world mentally. But that person doesn’t know when he or she will get an accident or they will die in that manner. So by doing what they will get the moksha from becoming ghost. Just curious to know about it. You need to understand life as a journey of the Jeevathma to its source, or the Paramathma. It goes through different bodies and lives to attain the Poornabodham or moksha from the cycle of birth and death. When a jeevathma leaves one body it remains in the subtle form or the “sookshmaroopam”,(which is also called pretham), meaning not in a gross body or not in the manifested form. What kind of life we live, and what kind of death we take, is determined by the “prarabdhakarma” that trigger a life. If someone is mentally ready to leave a certain physical body, the jeevathma separates from it easily. But, if it is an unexpected or accidental death, it is a little more difficult for the subtle body (sookshmasareeram comprising of the mind and causal body) to separate from the physical body. However, how soon a subtle body acquires a new body is determined by its karmic wealth. This is why we do tharpanam- it is our prayer for a departed soul to get a suitable body fast. Hari Om.
